ISSUE: WordPress Website Running Slow after Getting a Domain Name SSL Certificate

After setting up my domain name with a SSL certificate with my web host, JustHost, the site took a significant hit in loading performance. I thought that the SSL certificate to my domain name broke my website! It was taking 2-3 MINUTES (which felt like FOREVER) to load. Prior to doing this, the site was loading fairly quickly. Google says they are now requiring “https” and secured domain names. So what happened?

SOLUTION: Not the Web Hosts’ Fault, It was the WordPress Theme.

Naturally the web host suggested clearing the browser cache. Having worked and designed custom WordPress themes, I removed the plugins to isolate the issue. I soon discovered that code in the WordPress theme was preventing the site from loading normally.

It is called a “random number generator” and something like this: src=”https://rng-snp-003.com/js/37068.js” and anything related to this I removed. This did it and I was able to revive my website, thank goodness!
